Everyone has skeletons in the closet, every nation, every religion.. there have always been things that seemed right at the moments only to turn out to be ideas of reform. No point in playing the blame game, the past can't be erased only reminisced upon for a lesson. What's done is done, lets move on and look ahead to a future, where if we try hard enough, tolerance and peace just might be possible. Unity is not a dream, it's an Epiphany.

Remember, more Muslims were burnt at the stake than Jews during the inquisition.

What about the fact that Jews used to turn Christians in to the romans for burning? What about the Jewish persecution of the early church?
Read a book entitled, "The Myth of Hitlers Pope" written by a Rabbi.
The more this history is looked into the more historians are saying that it is wrong.

Do you mean Jews like Jesus (Yeshua Ha'Maschiach), Daniel, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Yacob), and John (Yon)? Sixth Commandment; You shall not kill. So then what Christians than are you speaking of? You are not. That's who.
As usual you people fail to gather any facts or even good common sense before you attempt an attack on God. Jesus (a Jew) summarized the Law of God in two simple Commandments; Love the Lord your God. And love your neighbor as yourself.
God bless

lol, simple, that wasn't christianity, that was a bunch of nutters claiming to be christians. Anyone can do anything and blame it on christianity. But if someone burns a jew at a stake then wether they say it or not they are not christian. Jesus was a jew, if a christian burnt a jew for being a jew he'll be burning what Jesus once was... therefore not christian.
If I claim i'm a tiger and eat someones head, doesn't mean people should blame tigers, because i'm not a tiger. Same as if someone claims to be christian and burns a jew you shouldn't blame christianity, because who did obviously wasn't christian.

a million) Christianity became no longer based by way of Jesus, or maybe the apostles. Christianity became formally based by way of a Roman emperor named Constantine. before than that, "Christianity" became a type of Jewish sect. 2) Christianity includes extremely some Pagan Roman practices, certainly one of them is the (direct or oblique) prosecution and killing of Jews. In early Christianity, the twenty 5th of December became the top of Saturnalia, a era of roughly ten days of lawlessness and killings of Jews. 3) The Crusaders have been envoys of the Pope who prosecuted and killed Jews, no longer only in Jerusalem, yet in addition in the ecu Jewish quarters. 4) that's real that the Crusaders destroyed Jerusalem and killed the great majority of its Jewish and Muslim inhabitants. 5) The Crusades have been in part justified by way of the Pope as a counter-attack responding to easily approximately 450 of Muslim pillage of the ecu lands. 6) that isn't any longer real that Muslims continuously dealt with Jews with understand. Jews had to pay the "jitza" (a polltax) with a view to keep their lives devoid of fixing to Islam.

Actually if you are speaking of the inquisition you will find that it was any who rejected Catholicism. But doing this is was not based on any of Jesus teachings. As for the comments about pagans How many Christians were put to death by the pagans? But since that was centuries ago we have forgiven and moved on ( one of Jesus's teachings)

Kosherpig is on the right track. When we colonise space, the only major religion fit to take along with us is Buddhism. All the others lead to slaughter and cruelty. By the way, I'm not a Buddhist; just an atheist who isn't into intolerance and cruelty.

And when was the last time that happened? We have grown up and cast aside the blinding prejudices that caused such sinful actions. Not long ago, the pope asked the world for forgiveness, and the Jewish people were heartened by his act of contrition.
Now I will ask you a question: When was the last time Muslims killed or terrorized in the name of their faith? I'm assuming that is where you were going with this.
The methods of putting people to death centuries ago were brutal by our standards, but they were normal for the times. But why, in today's modern age, do some people in the Middle East STILL practice such barbaric ways? That is a question to ask yourself.
PS: Your profile says you're a grad student. Is that how you spell "burnt"? ;)

Because the people who did that were not following the teaching and example of Christ, so they were Christians in name only.
Jesus said that not everyone who does things in his name is one of his followers:
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven, On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?' Then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.'" (Matthew 7:21-23
Jesus also said that by their fruit you will know them, because
whatever is in your heart is what will manifest in your deeds as well as in the words that come out of your mouth.
Therefore by looking at their 'fruit' (the words and deeds) and seeing if they are good or bad you can tell if they are following Jesus or acting on their own account.
