In the USA, you are not allowed to claim a mileage deduction AND direct expenses such as gasoline or oil, etc. The mileage rate is supposed to equate to your total expense per mile (or kilometer).

In the US you can take actual expenses or the .45 per mile (or whatever the current rate is). You can't take both.
