Hello I am having a serious problem ever since I was small but it has progressively gotten worse. The symptoms are as follows:
1. When I was about 14 years old I first noticed that I had to read things over and over just to be able to grasp them. This is especially bad the more technical the writing is. For instance, history and science are very difficult for me. Anything that explains details rather than just simple facts is very difficult for me to read. The following articles are very difficult for me:
1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/peptidoglyc...
2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/immunoglobu...
3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/lateral_mal...
I felt sleepy and exhausted after two paragraphs from each article above. My brain turned into mishmash and I couldn't absorb any more information. I also tire very easily when jogging for more than 20 seconds or having to do any task at all, physical or mental, for more than a few minutes. Even reading novels that I like is so difficult.

Someone said I might have ADD. I got tested for it when I was 26. Result was negative. The doctor gave me tests and put me on adderol. All it did was speed up my heart rate. After 3 days of taking it, she told me to discontinue it because it should have worked immediately.
To people who think that I may be out of shape, that isn't the case I think. I just seem to not have any motivation after a few times I do a task. This applies to any task, even those that I feel really excited about before starting them. Then I'll find I get bogged down and tired/bored. I'm starting medical school in a few days so I'm really worried about this problem of not being able to assimilate information. Is it a question of solely intelligence then??

diet maybe.
sugars starches carbs and caffeine can leave your mind in a slow dazed stupor.
yup, fish (salmon) helps, I've noticed.
I'm in the same boat as you. I think we're maybe just bored with what we read. taking breaks does help.
sometimes I play a mind trick on myself and get myself all hyped up about needing to complete the reading task.
I start thinking about sparring and ninjitsu. About kicking (mental) *** in the class................
then I'm hooked, for at least 30 minutes = break time

I don't think that this is any kind of illness. I think that this is just a lack of something your body needs. Have you ever gotten tested for diabetes? Since you write very well do i not think that you do not grasp the things you read up on, what I think is that you are too tired too fast to be able to put more info into your brain and therefore you think you don't grasp it.
Natural medicine offers great stuff for such things, but I would still say, go to a good doctor and have yourself tested for diabetes and lupus. Good luck

is this a test?
I mean, since you're starting medical school soon.
How on earth could you start medical school in the condition you suggest? You won't make it unless you're in good shape. I'm thinking your physical problem has to do with stress. And I don't understand why you would choose such a demanding career knowing you're always exhausted. If the reason you chose that career was to find out what's wrong with you then that was a mistake.
Why not just go to your doctor and have the usual tests done and also see what nutrition you're lacking.

Dear Shalini, how can you be in love with your best friend after knowing his nature and more importantly how can be a guy who does not care about you, you does not care about your feelings or anything for that matter can be your BEST FRIEND. All I see here that you were infatuated with this guy and believed that he is the best and your best friend and that you love him but all this time he was just using you, and when he felt that he cannot get more out of you without being the guy you thought he is he really did not cared about you and did not even stopped you from leaving him, in-fact I believe he was relieved that you left him and he did not had to do that. Now this guy, your neighbor was and is a kid who got attracted to a gal 2 years elder to him who is more physically matured than the girls his age, he wanted to fulfill his fantasy of being your friend and talk to you which he got by giving you a shoulder to cry on, you were sad and he was there and he acted just like a good friend and wanted you to smile and be happy because that is the way he wants to see you, while you made him a god who is the source of all your happiness, you became totally dependent on this guy and made him in-charge of your life, so when he is in-charge he will do what he likes to do, and he is younger to you so looks like a kid and is threatened by guy your age or 1-2 years elder to you with whom you are more likely be in relationship with and this is the reason he is controlling that part of your life so that you do not meet any other guy and so you do not like any of them enough to leave him. DO NOT let him control your life, let him know what you need and want to do and although he may be your lover and you two may be very close even physical he should not control whom you should be friends with, it is not that you will have an affair or a sexual relationship with any guy who smile your way. Let him know that you can be trusted like the way you trust him, this is a two-way street and if you are not allowed to have any guy friends then he should not have and should not even look at any other girl

Umm, well you have probably already tried this, but I would suggest to go talk to a doctor about all of this. Take breaks between working, for example after 30 min of study take a 10 min break. you will be able to get a lot more done that way. Make sure to watch your diet too and mix up your workout. DOnt do teh same thing every day.

This may sound dumb, but have you had your eyesight checked? Some of what you describe reminds me of myself - the eyestrain I was experiencing when reading was exhausting me - your muscles are working to focus your eyes and it tires you out. Since getting glasses, I can read without getting so tired. An eye exam is easy to find, doesn't hurt, and may point to something that could help (it wouldn't explain your fatigue when running though).

If you were able to get into medical school it sounds like you have done pretty well for yourself thus far. I would get your visiual perception checked out by a developmental optometrist - there aren't many around but they can check out your visual tracking and visual sequencing and give you ideas about how to make your visual integration better. Who knows, you might even get yourself a label and then get to take as much time on tests as you need to. Good luck.

I would see a neuro doctor about this one. Only he would be able to do the right tests to see what is going on.

well at first i thought it could be dyslexia...since you said you had to read things over and over, but from the other things you have experienced, i doubt that it is to blame for your other problems...go to your doctor, and ask if he\she could refer you to another doctor that could help you with your problem.
