It depends on where you are. Are you a US citizen in a foreign country or vice versa?

I think if you're an US citizen in a foreign country, you need to get to an American consulate right away. No matter what nations country you have a passport from, if it's about to expire you need to get to the consulate.

They will know what to do and can help you.

No you cannot you must apply for a new one.The fees are similar but just a little more form filling and of you are British then the Post office will do this for you for a small fee,guaranteeing the Passport will arrive safely.

It depends on what country you are from, I know this country allows people from Britain and Mexico renew their passports while they are still here. Look up the passport requiremnts of your country and that should answer your question

Get a new one already! I got one last month. Start to finish (passport in my hand) took 5 days.

No. It has expired. You cannot extend something that has expired.

if its expired you cant extend it you have to renew it.
