before.
if you brush only after, wouldn't you be swallowing a lot more germs...?

I really like this question becuz it is something I've wondered as well. Personally, I like a quick rinse with water when I just wake up and full on brushing after eatting breakfast. Some friends/relatives brush before they eat after waking to get that nasty feeling out of their mouth- they say the food tastes cleaner/better. But it's personal preference and hygiene I suppose.

You should always brush your teeth after it, so you get the bacteria off your teeth that cause decay. The only reason to brush before, is if you eat with other people & you have a bad case of bad breath in the morning, so your morning breath is unpleasant to them.

usually before and after.
I simply can't wait. As soon as I get up I have to go brush my teeth.
I usually don't eat breakfast until I am done getting ready in the morning.
Then I brush again before I go out the door.
