Suicide's illegal? How's that work? I don't think anyone should end their own life prematurely.

To the first question: Because people like legislating morality, to the detriment of our legal system and, in cases like this, our ability to take it seriously.
To the second question: I think suicide is a good indicator that someone either has poor quality of life, or was too well off and overly sheltered to the point of not being able to deal with everyday difficulties. People who are well adjusted are usually away from the extremes of poverty and wealth.
Either one says bad things about the rest of us, especially if suicides happen a lot. If suicides are happening, the causes of them should be dealt with, regardless of whether there are consequences in the afterlife.
No one can say, with any real authority, what happens to suicides in any afterlife. We can say, though, that it should be prevented, because it means that the people responsible for ensuring that people have a high enough living standard, and the skills that they need to survive, especially our parents and teachers, aren't doing their job.
Making a law against it, or telling people that they are going to hell, is dealing with the symptom, not the disease.

In America it is not illegal to commit suicide. This sort of law would be state mandated, and none of our 50 states has a law making suicide illegal on the books;
The Bible does not list suicide as a sin. If you are saved when you die, you will go to Heaven...it is not murder of your own body as some try to say...you can't murder your own body. Murder is an offense against another person. It is just a sad thing..

Illegal? What are they going to do, cuff you and throw you in jail after you are dead?
Yes my dear, the consequences of suicide is internal punishment as is with all other sin committed. The Bible states that there is no repentance in the grave and therefore suicide is a sure way ensuring of eternal death.
You see, choosing to take ones life shows a complete lack of trust and faith God. It also shows that you willingly commit an act o violence to the body that God has entrusted you.
take care

Suicide does have eternal consequences, but the consequences really depend on the individual. I believe God is a very just God and takes into consideration all things that have happened to an individual. If tragic events led to the suicide, I think God would be merciful.

Well, whether it is illegal or not wont really matter when the person decides on doing it then even the law cannot stop them at the time. What we must do is strive to make everyone love their lives and live to their fullest potential and do good things to make sure everyone is fine because we all need help and support at some time or another. Hopefully, we can all get through these rough times and do positive things to help our world.

If the very last sin you commit if self-murder, How can you repent of that sin?
Also, suicide is a sign of a lack of faith.
GOD bless

Well, it's kind of stupid for it to be illegal.
If you are dead, they can't prosecute.
I don't know if there are eternal consequences, but my boyfriend threatened to find me and torture me after he dies if I ever kill myself.

suicide is illegal because it is actually murder, murdering yourself. But hey, it's one of those crimes that if you commit, they can't send you to prison for.

Second answer, can one ask for forgiveness for killing oneself after they are dead? no, however, only God judges peoples hearts and I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
