I live in Longview, Texas. I have seen a trend of closings of Cheron gas stations for the past month(year?) or so. Chevron gas gives the best (and I mean it) mileage per gallon than any other gas. So please let me know why they are closing

Chevron does give the best gas mileage over the rest. Every oil company does something different to their gas and not all the gas comes from the same place.
So please tell me why Chevron is closing their stations in east Texas

I can't tell you specifically why Chevron is closing their stations. It's possible that they may reopen under the Texaco brand, since those companies merged and Texaco is such an iconic Texas brand name. Or they may have made a business decision to divest less profitable zones. It's not uncommon for retailers to do that. With the limited profit to be made on gasoline, unless a site is making money on inside sales, it's likely to close.

As for the quality of Chevron gas, I agree with your stance. The Techron additive is certainly considered among the best in the industry. I work for another oil major and if I can't buy the home team's product, I look for the Chevron stripes next.

Thank you for recognizing that gas is different, depending on where you buy it. The oil companies struggle with discounters who sell gasoline as a commodity. While gasoline at the refinery and terminal levels is identical, once the product is pumped into a tanker for delivery to a retail station, the additive packages make all the difference. The garbage that you can buy at the grocery store or supercenter has the cheapest detergent/oxygenate package possible and it will prematurely age you car and cost you hundreds in wasted gasoline as a result.

The basis of legal liability to a third party (your Mom) is that there has to be negligence that was the proximate cause of your mother's injury. The mere fact that your mother was hurt at the gas station does not mean that the gas station or Chevron are liable. Your lawyer would have to prove that Chevron or the gas station did something or failed to do something that turned out to be the cause of your mother's injury AND that a reasonable person could have foreseen that the action or inaction could result in injury. Because you give no detail as to the circumstances and extent of your mother's injury we really can't answer your original question - Is Chevron liable?
