South Texas and snow.....i think it might be a little strange but if thats what floats your boat....

Centerpiece I would load up on some flocking (fake snow) for centerpieces get a gold bowl. Laying them at an angle to make the feel of a wreath start laying in pine. Use artificial or get a X-mas tree and start cutting. Pinecones are very cheap and just hot glue them onto the end of some wire and stick into the Pine like you would fresh flowers. Add a hint of gold glitter. Not a ton or it will look cheesy. Just a few. Sprinkle some of the fake snow onto the table, set the cnterpiece on top. Have some more of the flocking mixed with the gold glitter and lightly dust your centerpices. Add candles around it. If you put them in votives with some of the gel for flower arangements left clear it will look like crushed ice but without the melting.

martha stewart's website has a great idea for snowflake curtains which could be incorporated as a draped ceiling effect using wire attached to the ceiling. Check out her website.

You can always hang snowflakes using gold ribbon from the ceiling over the place of the center pieces. If you have ceiling fans, it will make them move as if they are falling.

You might always want to consider white christmas lights.

Another neat idea is to take either blocks of wood or boxes and stair step them, covering them with white velvet material. Just tuck the material under the edges of the boxes. This gives a tiered look and with the white fabric, it can look like a hillside of snow. This can be used to either set dishes of food on or else a combo of food and mirrors with candles.

There is snowflake confetti you can sprinkle on the tables.

How about snowflake christmas ornaments? These can be used as a favor too.

Don't forget the snowman. Styrofoam, black buttons and a fake carrot will finish him off...if you can't find a more real looking one.

How about incorporating a sled into the theme. If you can get your hands on one here in Texas.

Good luck.

Think about silver instead of gold. It has a more winter look to it. Mirror tiles make great centerpiece bases. White candles and white, silver and ice blue flowers. The best centerpieces are the simple ones that don't interfere with the conversation at the table.

Instead of gold I would suggest silver, it compliments blue much more than gold.

For your centerpieces maybe some frosted glass candle holders. Or if you are crafty you can buy glass frosting kits/paint and make them yourself for either flowers or floating candles or traditional candles.

Some winter greenery such as holly as trim would be nice as well. Finished with silver and blue ribbon and I think it would be very pretty.

You could also trim things in white fake fur for a real wintery look. For example you could make a runner to go across the middle of the table that is blue with silver snowflakes and trim the edges with white fake fur. Instead of tulle trimming the head table you could use fur and lights and maybe some tinsle.

Man I could go on and on it sounds like so much fun!

Good luck!

How about branches in a vase, then hang votive candles off of the branches. You can buy specific hanging holders for this, sorry can't think of the website right now. Obviously, the branches need to be able to hold the weight of the candles but i've seen this done on 'whos wedding is it anyway?' and it was beautiful!! Good Luck and Congrats

I agree with the others and suggest you go with silver as it is much more wintry but still adds a sparkle. And I found just the accessory site you need at MyDivineWedding.com. They even got candles to help with your candle center piece idea.

I think I'd use a bowl of frosted glass with snowflake shaped floating candles. You can use spray glue very lightly on the outside of the bowl and just 'whisper' some gold glitter on to it. or even use glitter glue directly on to the bowl in scroll or swirl, or snowflake pattern. The candle inside the frosted bowl will give a nice glow. The frosted glass gives the impression of snow as well. You can get confetti in snowflake shapes to scatter on the table and then use some votives, in frosted glass also, in front of each place setting.

PS _ If you are going to a 'winter' theme, you nay want to switch to an icy metallic like silver rather than the 'warmer' gold. It will make looking for items easier too.
