My friend got laid off after being at a job for 2 months here in LA.. can he get unemployment?

He was working 12 hours a day Monday - Saturday.... more that you can say!

He worked previously in Texas at an oil refinery place.... Does that go toward his UI?

Yes, work and earnings from another state can be used to establish a claim. If an individual works for the federal government, or is in military service, work and earnings from overseas can also be used to establish a claim.

But to make sure that how much he can claim he'll need to call EDD directly. (Unemployment compensation may not be worth it than working.) 1-800-300-5616

He will not be eligible to apply online since he only work out of state. He will need to call and apply unemployment as well.

no unless he worked enough weeks in a previous job.
