I grew up in the 80's, and I'll admit that my associations were mostly negative back then. Ugly, arrogant, foolish, misguided, etc. It was amazing later to meet lots of people from Russia to see what they are really like. Yeah, well, and the girls, well, you know, undescribable!

Two songs I learned when I was a child. One in Russian called Buskye G'da Budyet Sunsa and one I learned only in English called Dear Moscow's Land ("In the dawn's light faintly gleaming stands the ancient Kremlin walls....")

I only met two Russians, one of whom was stupid and the other of whom was standoffish. But my ancestors came from Russia, so I don't think all Russians are like that.
