it will be more a question of WHAT you will be able to cover the current tattoo with. red isn't a problem to cover up and neither is black. the MOST important thing to do is to chose a tattoo artist who is competent and talented at doing coverups. not all tattooers are artists and certainly not all of them are good at doing coverups.
research research research.
good luck!

A quick, temporary cover-up for your tattoo is an excellent (and easy to apply) product called DermaBlend. Just pat this cream over your tattoo using your fingers and your skin will appear as if you have no tattoo at all. I use it when I need a fast cover-up (in the name of respect in certain situations) of the enormous butterfly on my arm. And DermaBlend washes off easily with soap and water, too.

the best person to ask is your tattoist. i have a few tattoo's and i had one covered up last year ... the WORST pain ive ever felt... i felt like he had gone to the muscle and it was raw. if u can live with it keep it cos the pain was immense!!
