I was just wondering everyone's opinion on the no-chaining for dogs.
I'm about 50/50 for it.
50% of me supports it because of the people who chain their dogs out and don't pay any attention to them.
Or feed them etc.
And then again some dogs cannot be broughten inside.
(*But thats not really an excuse, anyone could get a fence put up*)

But the other 50% opposes it.
And thats only because I have a Blue Tick Koon Dog (hunting dog)
And she doesn't get along well with my cats.
&&She especially doesn't like it in the house.
(We brought her in once when it was cold out and she just cried and cried until she got outside)
But eventually I got a kennel/fence put up outside so shes chain free now=D

But I was just wondering everyones opinion!

When some people say that chaining up a dog causes the dog to become aggressive and so on, thats untrue. I have a really big yard and I have to keep my dogs on chains(a fence would cost a fortune), or else they would run around the entire neighborhood. None of my dogs are aggressive, vicious or anything like that. I'm not an abusive and neglectful owner. I visit my dogs, feed them, and give them attention. My dogs are just as friendly as any inside dog. NONE of my neighbors tie up their dogs and I would call them "abusive, neglectful owners that deserve to lose their dogs" . None of my neighbors dogs live past 5 years old because they always end up getting run over or shot by the local constables. I'm saving my dogs lives by keeping them tied up. Its not good to stereo type every dog owner who keeps their dogs on chains. Not all of them neglect their dogs just because they live outside tied up. I take my dogs for walks, feed them and everything else that dog owners do. Does keeping them tied up automatically make me an evil person? What about this "create training" thing that people recommend? That sounds very cruel to me. The dog is just kept in a plastic box and ignored. At least when a dog is tied up it has a lot more space then a dog who is forced to stay in a create most of the time.
I would also like to mention that my dogs are tied up near by each other, so they are with most of their "pack", so my dogs are not lonely either.
I live in Northern Manitoba Canada, so if this Bill passes or not it won't effect me anyway (thank goodness).

Thanks for letting me speak out my opinion on this issue.

P.S. I'm a WWE fan, too. XD

Well, I would need a tow chain. However, I don't chain my dogs. I have invested a lot of money to have both a kennel and access to my home for my dogs. Dogs need the social interaction. The majority of dogs chained are left alone for days with only feeding time as their stimulation. It does frustrate a pack animal to constantly be alone. I do NOT believe the government has the right to interfere with this when there are so many other more important issues going on.............LIKE THE WAR!!!

I'm for it. Personally, I prefer my dogs inside, but that's me.

Chained dogs are more likely to bite than those that aren't, but a law won't change the behavior of the worst offenders.

Psycho sid vicious fan, I'm glad you don't neglect your dog; but the fact of the matter is that a tied dog is easy to forget about, I'm sure you're aware. There's certainly room to disagree.

I think the government should only get involved when it is likely to make a big difference. In this case, I highly doubt it... so they'd best not bite off more than they can chew. This sounds more like a job for the ASPCA anyway.

My view on chaining..NO. The only dogs I can think of that one might not want to allow in the house might be dogs kept for hunting. In that case they are in a kennel and there is more than one, rather than a dog that is made to live almost constantly alone which is abusive all in itself. Dogs are SOCIAL creatures, not unlike humans. To be left alone so much is just wrong, and that's not just my opinion. It's a fact. No wild dog or wolf lives all alone ever. They live in packs.

Totally against! Life on a chain is inhumane! Check out the web site www.dogsdeservebetter.com All the info there will expand your knowledge of a chained dog's "life".

My Husky could never go outside without her tie out. Huskies are known for jumping 6 foot fences and they're exceptional diggers. There aren't any other options for me to let her out other than putting her on the tie out.

She only stays out for like 5 minutes if no one's with her though because she doesn't like being alone.

Sorry, just me, but I think chaining in inhumane. No, I'm not an activist, but dogs should be properly cared for and a chain is not the way to do it. Good for you for getting a fence.

Dogs should NOT be chained up outside.. It builds aggression and it's just plain mean.. If you have a dog and you leave it chained in your yard, you are abusive, neglectful and you deserve to lose your dog.

There's a difference between proper and improper chaining.

Leaving a dog chained all the time: improper use of chaining.
Letting the dog out on a chain for a few hours at a time: proper use of a chain.
