Gore-tex is famous/useful/convenient because it's very waterproof YET lets feet and bodies "breath" (ever worn one of those plastic poncho things?!).
Unless you're keeping small animals in your rucksack, there's little point - and yet a lot of expense - in making it out of Gore-tex.
Gore-tex is ridiculously waterproof, but so is plastic! I'm sure you can find an equally waterproof and much cheaper rucksack than one made out of Gore-tex!

I'd like the same ! As do many of my fellow walkers.
Okay it doesn't have to be goretex as that's expensive, but something waterproof.
rain covers are a pain if you want to grab a water bottle from a side pocket, or a banana/apple inside.
dry bags mean putting everything together rather than being able to use small pockets inside the sack for train tickets, a biro, train time info etc. etc.
Why should I have to waterproof the fabric ? manufacturers - just make one that is waterproof -please !

The main advantage of Gore-Tex is it is waterproof yet breathable. So your feet (or whatever) don't get wet or sweaty. See the link for more.

If you're worried about keeping the items in your pack dry all you need is a pack cover. These are inexpensive rubberized coverings that fit right over your pack. One of these should do the job fine and will be available at your local outdoors store.
Gore-Tex is really more suitable for clothing, and would make for a really expensive pack.

gore-tex as discussed unavailable and not really worthwhile either try rucksack cover or liner or check out Technicals range of rucksacks at Blacks or Vaude range of rucksacks both designed to be seamless and (as near as) waterproof.

I doubt it, there wouldn't be any point and it would be a waste of expensive material. GoreTex is designed to allow moisture laden air to pass through the pores of the fabric so the person wearing a garment, lying in a sleeping bag or zipped inside of a tent does not get damp from their warm breath or the sweat evaporating from their skin condensing on the fabric. Stuff in your pack does not breathe or sweat. It would not help your back stay dry when carrying the pack because the side of the fabric away from your body has to be open to the air for the moisture to pass through.
Waterproof coated fabrics work fine for packs and are much more economical and tougher (as well as more watertight.)
