I know this is gross, but its true, and i REALLY need some adivce.

My 1 yr old ( 17 months to be exact), started doing this about 3 weeks ago!

During the middle of the night, our daughter will poop in her diaper, then take it off. She smears th eppop all over the walls, crib, bed, herself, mattress, anything seh can. When we waking up in the morning, she is sitting there laughing.

I have tried buying one-peice outfits for her to wear to bed. She knows how to take the outfit off, and then still takes her diaper off!

We have tried checking on her every 1 hour throughout the night, but she seems to know that we are still awake, and wont go poop in diaper.

And no, i am not going to sit in her room all night watching her, that is ridiculus. I need sleep too.

She is not old enought to be potty trained yet. Ive tried.

What can i do? I dont like waking up every morning to poop everywhere! Plus, she can get sick if she eats it

And dont tell me to ask her doctor! Her doctor will just tell me whats healthy, no help me on a behavioral problem! And she is too young to see a behavioral doctor. A doctor isnt the answer to everything. I jsut want to know how I myself can deal with it.

I have heard of someone else having this problem, and from what I can remember that they did was put duct tape on her diaper.
She won't be able to get that off.
Plus she will probably get so frustrated because she's not able to get if off that she will start screaming, therefore waking you up.
That's the only thing I could think of, that you haven't tried yet :)

She really isn't far off from potty training....my son started at 18 months and is fully trained now at 22 months...just for some good news! Now the bad news, at 17 months she is old enough to start being disciplined and this is a behavioral problem you are absolutely right, My daughter did this to me three times and that was enough, she got to clean it up after getting a swat on a bear bottom (from my hand of course). I might suggest if you aren't comfortable with that they do understand the concept of time out in the corner, also, try cutting the footies out of the jammies and putting them on backwards, they can't get the zipper down that way! Hope this helps, I know it's one of the worst things a kids can do truly I've been there and it's very frustrating!

This is just a thought I had, you dont need to go w/ it if u dont want to.......try buying a one piece swimsuit for the girl and put it on over her diaper and then take a pin and pin the two straps together, or tie them together, it might work, im not sure, I dont even have any kids and im not married so.....I am not in that postion, but best of luck anyway!

Agreeing with MommaBear- my young brother did the same thing- Duct Tape is highly effective!

PS - when it does happen again don't make a big deal of it, she is probably noticing the reaction it invokes in you. Act like it's nothing and keep her out while you are cleaning up the mess- she'll get bored with it.

Oh I feel your pain I really do!
My son did and still does the same thing. It is just awful. He has ruin his carpets cuz they are covered with poop.

We started wrapping his diaper with duct tape and that seems to do the trick.

Good Luck

My 17 month old recently started doing this , to prevent it from happening I have been using 2 peice pjs as they are a bit harder for her to get off. She has not done it since

Good Luck !

OOOHHH naughty baby!!! Definately time to lecture her and make her clean it up herself!
I agree with the duct tape solution as well as getting a onsie and putting it on backwards underneath her jammies. Good luck with her my little imp never pulled that little stunt!

It's never happened to me personally, but it has been a problem for some of my friends. They all used duct tape wrapped around her waist a few times. I would also discipline her when it happens, she is old enough to learn right from wrong and be in time out. Good luck.

What about getting a fabricy/plastic swim diaper, those elastics are pretty tight, to put over a regular diaper.

2 things spring to my mind.
1) Put it on backwards
2) Fasten it down with a strong tape.
