It depends upon the age of the dog.

Puppies need more frequent vet visits because they are getting their initial series of vaccinations and then being spayed or neutered.

As an adult dog, most vets recommend yearly visits for a general exam, vaccinations (whatever is required by law for your area for rabies vaccine - yearly, every 2 years or every 3 years), heartworm testing, etc.

Once your dog is considered a senior, it is generally recommended to visit your vet twice a year. This is because, like in humans, there are more health concerns in seniors. "Dog years" are much "shorter" than human years, so there could be alot of changes in just 6 months. Periodic exams and blood work are needed to help detect any health concern so treatment can be started as soon as possible to help extend the life of your dog.

And of course, no matter the age, when your dog is ill, a vet visit is always recommended.

You should take your pup to the Vet once a year. This way they can have a thorough exam, any vaccinations they are due for and also other tests such as Heartworm, Lyme, etc. If your pet is sick, they should visit the Vet as soon as you can get them in. You don't want a small problem to become something much larger! Other than that, once a year is perfect.

Without any other problems a healthy dog should just visit the vet once a year for injections or if your getting your wormer from your vet they might want to see him to get him weighed.

Once a year and if they are sick. If you have a puppy you may have to go more than once the first year for shots, neutering or spaying, etc., but once a year after that. I use a mobile vet. It's great. They come to your home and is great if you have huge dogs or a lot of animals as I do. God bless!!

A healthy dog should visit the vet once a year for a full exam, heartworm check, and vaccines (if needed- most vaccines are now 3-year vax).

Once a year. But if its sick take it in. Puppies will have to be brought in more though for shots, fixing and just checkups.
