Sam's club

Sam's carries almost 40,000 items, and Costco carries about 6000. You have to be care full though, Sam's does not have the best deals on most of there products. Check you price then check your local grocery store, yes Sam's might have better prices on some of the things you need but saving 50 cents on buying 36 rolls of toilet paper you have to weight things out to see if it is worth it.

Costco carries less products but the have a higher market clientele so their product are usually better. There prices are also pretty good.

It totally depends what you are looking for, either way you can go to both and they will give you a day pass for no charge and you can see what each has to offer and compare the prices. Good Luck I have a membership with Costcos, but had a Membership with Sam's for over 8 years until Costcos came to the area.

Costco - no doubt
Used to be a Sams Member, but went to costco for better quality, better selection, and many many perks - Discounts on cars, insurance, banking services, American Express, much much more. If you want an unbiased opinion - go in to each with a day pass and shop.

I currently drive 2 hours to get to the nearest costco to me (since we moved) instead of the Sams Club that is only 20 mins. Personal preference and selection availability. The Costsco brand - Kirkland is compairable if not better for many products. I stopped using Tide because I liked how it washed better and it is also 10 dollars cheaper for a larger bottle. Every month are added coupons, many instore discounts and every season is additional coupons too. Covers everything from perscriptions to food to computers and clothes. Brands of clothes you will find are like Tommy Hilfinger, Izod, and more. No odd brands.

We always used Costco but then a Sam's Club opened closer to home so we got a temporary card there and we were amazed at the better stuff SC had! When our Costco card is up, we are getting a Sam's Club card!

Since this is in the food section, I'll assume that's what you're most interested in ... I have shopped in both and I much prefer Costco. It really depends on your priorities, though.

IMHO, Costco has more high-end, high quality food It is value priced, but it is not necessarily the lowest priced food around. If you need to feed a big family on a very small budget, Sams will probably cost less and the quality is pretty good. If you can afford to go for higher quality food, but want it at a good price, then Costco.

Sam's Club doesn't have gas... but Costco doesn't have as much as Sam's Club inside... my advice is to buy a membership to both... they are worth it if you intend to make bulk purchases !

It depends ENTIRELY on what your needs are. Go & check the BOTH of them out- & whichever one works for YOU (for whatever reason), get a membership to THAT one. Some people (usually those with BIG families) have memberships in BOTH. But for most people- their product lines are extensive & similar enough- that they only need to belong to one or the other.
