The dealer is offering me 23,000 out the door which includes taxes, titles and fees. I'm really not too crazy about the Hyundai, but if the offer is right i'll get it. My credit is great, so I have options.

The MSRP for the car is 23,895 including a 2,500 rebate they have going on now. So asking for the car at 22000 isn't so much of a stretch I think. Should I settle for the 23,000 or play hard ball?

Why are you bothering to even make an offer on the car if you aren't in love with it? There are so many comparable brands at the same price, you are a fool to buy a car that you don't really want at any price. The Sonata is a great car, but for $23K you might be able to get the Azera SE which is even nicer. Looks like your price of $23K out the door is a good deal though.

You should settle, if at all possible, for the $23,000 price tag. The Hyundai Sonata is not the most entertaining car, but fundamentally it is terrific (good enough to scare Toyota and Honda, in fact). Unless you buy a pre-owned car, there is nothing at this price that will offer the same features, quality, reliability, and safety as the Sonata. It will last a long time, it is built well, and should serve its purpose.

always play hardball, one more thing always buy cars the last week of the month,, you get better deals, because dealers have quotas to make,, if they have not met the quota they will offer better prices
