I don't know. It's like being pregnant. Either you have faith or you don't. Jesus said faith as small as a grain of mustard seed is all you need. Of course as you grow, your faith becomes stronger in that you can look back and see where God was there and thus be better able to keep trusting Him in the future.
Don't blame the Christians who tell you these things. Maybe they need to grow some too.

I always have to ask myself, "What is my faith based upon?" If I find myself being defensive about my faith am I trusting in the one who is responsible for giving me my faith or my own righteousness?
