Will they deploy to Iraq to fight? if not do you think this is fair as other troops have to fight?

The ceremonial role is the primary one but the regiments operational role is in the territorial defence of the UK .So no they wont be deployed in Iraq and as there are only 120 of them it seems to be a good idea.

I presume you are talking about the British Military here?

All British Troops are first and formost trained as combat troops, ceremonial duties are just a part of that training.

Many British Regiments rotate through a tour of ceremonial duties in London for Her Majesty the Queen.

When its their turn to be rostered in combat they will go.
