It is usually what is more comfortable for the couple.
It is good to switch up on positions to get a variety.
It can also be seen as a matter of control. Whoever is on top is in control of the situation and doing most of the work. The person on the bottom can just really lay back and enjoy.

I've always been a big fan of the girl being on top. Something about a woman that is not afraid to take control is a major turn on. And if you're laying down making out, rather than say sitting on the couch together, there's a pretty good chance that you're both going to get caught up in the moment and get after it. I wish more women would feel comfortable being aggressive, it is a nice change up.

Depends on the guy....
I prefer to be on top of the girl when making out on a bed or something because it's a position of power. No... I'm not a controlling person, it's just that guys usually make the first move and then you also have the opportunity to kiss her neck more easily.... Really, it doesn't matter I suppose after you're already with her... because then it's nice to always switch stuff up. Initially, I always get on her.

prefer girl to be on top. I worry too much about letting all my weight go on a girl if she is on the bottom. Who wants that when you want to concentrate??

I would say they like it when the girls on top, it frees their hands to run them through your hair, down your back, squeezing your hips and thighs. I think guys believe a girl underneath them, maybe they might crush her or she can't breathe.
