You sound majorly confused. I think that all the things you need to do for a dog you should have considered and planned for BEFORE getting the puppy. Here is a quick starter guide:

Uh-oh, why did you take on this responsibility if you were not ready? that being said, after they have their shots make sure they have fresh cool water and a quality PUPPY food. Get follow up shots that the vet recommends and to avoid your house getting destroyed you may consdier kenneling when its left unsupervised. Start working with the dog from day ONE on potty training. And consider obedience training when they get to be about 4-6 months. And goodluck! Puppies need alot of attention depending on sex, age and breed. oh and of course as Bob barker would say get your pet spayed or neutered-around 6-9months old this can be done.

It does sound like you went out on a whim with buying this puppy but no need to worry...First make an appt. with a good reputable vet in your area for and visit within the next day or so. With that said the supplies for a puppy goes like this. Food, food and water bowls, lease i suggest for the first year a 5ft leash (it will be easier to control and train your dog), collar, snack, toys (cause your puppy will LOVE to chew on things for the next year especially), a crate (it is very important to crate train your puppy (it will take about 2-3 days for your puppy to quit crying and barking DONT GIVE IN CAUSE HE WILL NEVER STOP IF YOU GO TO HIM AND COMFORT THE DOG YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG!!) Make sure you have LOTS of paper towels and i suggest Lysol disinfectant for those accident! Dont get a bed for him because he will tear it right up in frustration and later when he is teething he will chew it up i suggest a towel to put in the crate. Other than that congratulations on your new puppy (mine is 6 months old already...i suggest not to get the puppy raw hide as if they swallow too much it could clog their stomach and they can choke on it and have to have surgery...i recommend sterolized real bones that you can buy at petsmart. Oh and a brush so you can get your dog used to it at an early age!

All new puppies and kittens should be seen by a vet within 48 hours of getting them. Doesn't matter if the person/place that you are getting it from says it had just been. Your vet may find something they didn't. The vet will explain when vaccines and worming should be done.
Do not buy a lot of supplies right off the bat. Get the basics...food,bowls,leash and collar fisrst. Worry about the rest later. Don't soend a lot on the basics either....you may find you don't like what you first bought and want something different.

The puppy needs shots... until he/she gets shots, make sure that every person that touches the puppy uses hand sanitizer first.

Get food and food bowls and get puppy pads if you decide you want to train your puppy on those.

Get a collar for your puppy and a tag with your phone number on it if the puppy gets loose. Get a leash for walks.

Get treats for your puppy so you can train him/her well! Give your puppy treats for going to the bathroom in the right place.

Buy a crate big enough for him as an adult dog. Crate train him so he knows that is HIS space. Use it to keep him when you are gone, at night when you go to sleep, etc. I will take a few days to get used to but DO NOT GIVE IN!
Contact your local vet clinic, they will let you know healthwise what needs to be done.

dont feed him grocery store brand foods. Even iams and science diet aren't great, even though your vet might recommend them.
some good ones are :
- Canidae
- Orijen
- Solid Gold
- Royal Canine
if there is corn or wheat in the first THREE ingredients, i wouldn't recommend buying it. dogs aren't meant to digest vegetables (at least not that much.
AND DON'T HIT YOUR DOG. the worst you should do is flick him on the nose, and it shouldn't hurt.
