If you are in a state where you must give a number, You can apply for an TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number), and, may be able to go to school with this. You can also pay taxes with it, when you become employed.

There are several states where you can attend college without providing proof of legal status. You will have to pay the "out of state" rate, though, which is considerably higher. Also, you probably won't qualify for work study, or, any grants.

I don't know all states that allow undocumented students to attend, but, new mexico and texas are 2 that do. There is a way to attend in Wisconsin, also.

The problem is that once you get out, if you don't have a legal status, you won't be able to apply your degree.

I wouldn't press your luck if I were you! The government is actually enforcing our laws now. If you are illegal, you'd best apply to a college in your own country as I have a feeling you may be going back. I have to say this, it's local not locial? To have been here since you were 4 you haven't applied yourself in the English departement, have you? College is hard, not like High School, they won't just pass you on. You earn a degree.

Because you are obviously requesting financial aid. I hope that SS # is actually yours. I'm assuming you are inferring that you are illegal? And worried about being reported and then deported? If you are legal, you have no worries. If you aren't, you very well may have an issue down the road.

There isn't much of anything they don't ask for your SS# for. It's a way they can distinguish every John Doe from each other. If you go to college and graduate...it's a means to proove your degree when you apply for work. It's alot more than just a number to work. It's a means to track you in all sorts of ways. It's not like people just take your word for everything. With so much counterfitting of all sorts of documents just handing them your diploma isn't good enough either.

It doesn't matter if you've been here since you were 4. If you were brought here illegally or overstayed a visa.....you're illegal.

It's tough enough to tell a football player with a 40-inch neck, "There is no "I" in TEAM."

But telling a college applicant "There is no "I" in LOCAL"...?
That's just going too far.

Well, number one your spelling and grammar are about on a third grade level. Two, you could never keep up with having to learn how to write and go to higher classes.
