Question on behalf of my friends and I ramblings when we get together:

So, yahoo personals doesn't work, neither does match.com. Our religious beliefs differ quite a bit from the mainstream of those in our religions, and a few of us have made a choice to not have children. Where is one to find a partner nowadays? When we don't drink heavily, so bars are out?

forgot to add that society doesn't put as much of a push to marry as it did 40 years ago.

In my experience, one of the best places to meet the "cream of the crop" of a city is cultural events, and expecially art openings. If your city has an art museum, check if one night a month they do a social event. If you volunteer for that, you can meet all kinds of cool people.

I guess in general, you must find a subject that interests you a lot, and do a lot of homework to find events related to that. That interesting activity will be a catalyst to meeting and breaking the ice.

Go to the church you do believe in or go to college and get a girl that is educated. Some guys take side courses while working to get to meet college girls.
Most girls that are not in high school don't want kids either.
That is left up to the immature little girls that don't know how to use birth control. Intelligent girls or college girls are smarter than that.
