I have a westie who very recently (over the past 3 days) has developed 4-5 small, round, scaly bumps on her face and back. She scratches at them causing them to bleed, and on the ones she can't reach, her skin is peeling off. Of course I'm taking her to the vet as soon as possible, but I was curious as to what I'm dealing with and how much treatment she will have to go through (and I'll have to pay for ). I know westies are famous for their skin problems, but I haven't read anything about this bumps in any descriptions online. She isn't really losing her hair around these bumps, so I'm stumped. Has anyone dealt with something similar?

I have never known a Westie that did not have skin problems. Many have LOTS of complicated skin issues!!! You need to get to a vet soon to at least get some relief for the poor dog and go from there.
No one can begin to tell you what treatment will cost. It depends on the problem. It can take a lot of trial and error to find the problem, but getting started ASAP is a great idea!!!

It could be skin allergies, i know this is a diff breed but my second german shepherd i had, had a similar problem and it was caused by skin allergies and then it turned into a terrible skin disease and we had to put him to sleep unfortunately. Hopefully, this is not the case for you cause my dog was allergic to everything and from scratching he contracted something that made it worse. I'm glad you are taking your dog to the vet, i'm sure your vet will prescribe allergy meds for your dog. If it is food allergies your best bet is to start feeding your dog raw meat, since that is what there bodies are used to eating and processing. Most food allergies are caused by the chemicals and cheap ingredients in dog food, additionally their bodies are not intended for processing wheat and flour, which also could cause food allergies...I hope this is helpfull.

You should probably take your dog to the vet. They'll tell you what to do.
