RE:
Living room window is 124 inches wide, what to do about curtain rods?
In the stores I see most go up to 120 inches. Is it possible to buy extensions to put in the rods?
Or, what would you suggest?

You should be able to get extentions for them, I have before. (Check J.C. Penneys) You'll just have to add in more support brackets for that long of a length. If it is not one continuous window, and just several right next to each other, you could just buy however many rods for the windows you do have, and mount them right next to/butting up to each other. Depending on what type of curtains you have and the hooks they take, you might also be able to just stretch a cable really tight, and add supports under it every so often to keep it straight. That would be the cheapest route probably:)
Good Luck!!

Go to a home store,Lowes or Home Depot type, and buy two decorative 6 foot wooden rods, three wooden brackets,IE one for middle and one for each end. Join the two rods with a pole connector screw[has thread on both end]. Saw off extra length from each end to make proper length. Remember ,you usually want rods to extend past window about 10 to 12 inches so you may not need to cut anything off. To finish, add decorative finials to each end of rod. Finials usually have screws already in place. Real inexpensive way, buy twelve foot piece of PVC pipe,2 or 3 inch diameter, attach with metal L brackets, make finial out of styrofoam ball covered with fabric. Leave a tail of fabric and insert in end of pole, may need to glue to pole. Paint or cover pole with fabric.

I have two eleven foot windows; we bought PVC pipe , cut it to fit the windows and used angle irons to hold it up (ends and center) It costs about (roughly) 2 dollars for a 10 foot piece. Put a wooden dowel in the center to hold the two pieces together and glue it to stay in place.
You can also get angled PVC fittings to make the pipe (rod) stick out from the wall. Hope you can understand this.

i have thew same problem my window is 130 inches and had to pay extra when i needed the window replaced. any way buy drapery rods. you can get them longer and if you want to hang curtains instead of drapes just take the eyelets and pull cord off and hang curtains on. that's what i did.

I found a place to order them. These are solid steel and gorgeous. Kinda pricey, but worth it. My window is only 88" though, so I paid a good bit less than you will.
