My dog loves Twizzlers (red licorice candy) but I looked on the net and couldn't find anything that says that this low-fat candy is good or bad for dogs. When we do get Twizzlers, we usually give him about 3-5 strands and we get them about once every 3 months. Is this healthy?

For as often as you give it to him, you're not hurting anything. Granted, the sugar isn't good for his oral health or over-all health, but so what. It's a treat you give him 3 or 4 times a year.

It is not going to hurt the dog. Sugar rush maybe. But the red ones are NOT licorice. Licorice is a flavor and almost always black. And better than the red stuff. I do like both though. Saw Twizzlers being made on fooed networ, the company wouldn't say waht the favor was in the red ones.

I haven't had any problems with my dog eating a twizzler but on the hot summer days she likes a ice cream cone instead.
