A lot of small dogs have oral problems, where they could have crooked/messed up teeth, which could be painful if it is bad and stuff

Here are some more health problems listed on wikipedia:

"The most common problem in Pomeranians is luxating patella. Also Legg-Calvé-Perthes syndrome and hip dysplasia can occur, but are rare in this small breed. Patent ductus arteriosus (a congenital heart defect) and collapsing trachea have become serious problems in Poms."

"Dry eye, tear duct disorders and cataracts that can appear in young adulthood and often lead to blindness are also common. Skin diseases are quite common, especially allergies (that often leads to acute moist dermatitis or "hot spots") and follicular dysplasia (also known as alopecia X). Other problems that occur regularly include hypothyroidism, epilepsy, and hypoglycemia. Occasionally, hydrocephalus can occur in Pom puppies. Poms, like many Toy breeds, are prone to bad teeth and harmless episodes of reverse sneezing."

There is a good number of problems, but they also have been known to live 18-20 years!!!

All purebred dogs can have health problems- that's why it's important to research what they are and talk to responsible breeders about how they selectively breed to minimize them,

There are alot of things that can be problems or can be minimized by responsible, educated breeding.

Growing up I had 2 poms. They are very loving and sweet dogs. They usually have 1 family member that they are most loyal to. Our poms lived to the age of 18 and 17 years old. We finally put them to sleep because they had problems with their joints, their tracheas were collapsing and they would cough and had labored breathing. Their teeth started falling out and they had cataracts. All of these problems started happening after they were about 12 years old so I would say they are in general fairly healthy dogs. Even humans as they age get arthritis, lose their teeth and have other medical problems. They were great dogs, good luck!

Most dogs do have health problems. If you cannot cover the dogs medical bills do not consider getting one unless you can find a method of doing so. Anyway, even if a dog is a very healthy breed, accidents DO happen

All dogs are prone to health issues just like we humans develop medical problems. However, I rescued a Pom and I know for certain that they have a tendency to develop tooth problems. For some reason, they suffer tooth decay. When I rescued my Pom, he had only his left upper fang. The surrounding gum tissue got inflamed and anti-biotics helped, but then a short time later, his little face swelled up. He had to go on anti-biotics again for a week and then I took him in to have the tooth removed. It cost me $181.00 to have the tooth removed. This price included complete blood testing, anesthesia and tooth extraction.

well of course there is a chance they can become sick or unhealthy in any way but here are the more common problems:

*Major concerns: patellar luxation
• Minor concerns: open fontanel, hypoglycemia, shoulder luxation, PRA, entropion
• Occasional: tracheal collapse, PDA
• Suggested tests: knee, eye, (cardiac)
• Life span: 12 – 16 years

generally a healthy dog, i would say go for it!

I have a Pomeranian and it's no problem at all. Pomeranians are nice and healthy and smart. They are also good to cuddle with. If you don't care for your puppy, they get unhealthy. Any breeds can end up like that.

I used to own a Pom. No never gave us any problem.
Except, you want to very careful about the hip. Small dog, tend to dislocate the join between hip and rare leg.

Of course they can have health problems. Do a little research on the breed...yes, you can use the computer to do this....and find out what you need to know.
