consider a GREAT PYRENEES.......it is a very large dog, very easy going in nature, and its coat is low maintence, pretty much !!......today, if a Great Pyrenees is kept fit and not overweight, it can live 12-14 yrs....these dogs are originally sheepdogs, and are great guard dogs, excellent companions, and very good with even small children !!...they have a low metabolism, so even though they are fairly large dogs, they won't eat you out of house and home, like a St. Bernard will !!!.....they were the Royal dog of King Louis the 14th of France, and guarded the castles and royal chateaus !!.....do some research on the breed, and i think you will out that they are a really impressive and GREAT dog !!...if you have any other questions about Great Pyrenees, email me back !!...good luck to y'all !!

I would say a Great Dane.
My personal opinion is that a Pyrenees or a Leonberger are THE best of the XL breeds. But if you want a low maintenance coat then do not get one of these. That goes for a Saint , Newfie, or Bernese as well. Mastiffs are quite large, and I hear that they are great pets. They also have shorter coats.
I just have to say though, that if you did consider a Pyr or a Leon that what you get in return far outweighs the grooming issue.

A German Shepherd Dog, they have great temperament are extremely loyal and loving and are easy going, they do shed but you really dont need to brush their coat, a b*tch is usually up to 26" high and weighs about 60-70 lbs and a stud is up to 28" high and usually weighs between 70-100lbs but can be as much as 120 like my 2 previous shepherds were. and if you take care of them well they can live up to 15 years if not longer! Hope this helps!

great pyranees! i had one, but we had 2 get rid of her. she was very friendly, but still guarded the house. she was about 115 pounds, and the worst she could do 2 u was lick ya 2 death. hehehehe. we gave her a bath once every month or two, but u can bathe them once every 3 months, they shed only a little, so u should brush em at the end of winter, and they r good 4 the rest of the year. if u want 2 c some pics of pyranees pups and adults, go 2: puppyfind.com, then type in great pyranees, and there will be pics, seriously, u should get one. very loveable, likes water, likes 2 slobber, and will eat anything( in case u dont like ur vegetables) lol. hope it helps. <3 - alexa

There are not many EXTRA-LARGE breeds that have a life expectancy past 10yrs. With all the hereditary problems a good portion of them face, 10 years is really maxing their life out. I suggest...finding yourself a EXTRA LARGE mixed bred. Preferably one from a animal shelter or rescue. Have you checked out www.gentlegiants.com?? They may very well have what you are looking for. They are the largest "large breed" rescue.
Good Luck to you!

We have a 10 month old great dane puppy. He is the sweetest thing and loves everybody! He doesn't require any maintenance just a lot of food and a large space to run around. He's even content playing catch with himself!

A Bernese Mountain dog, they are very good natured and bond well to their family, they LOVE children, they only shed once a year and only need grooming during this shedding period, some sources say they only live for 9 years but others say 12-13 so I would say anywhere from 9-13 years!

Very large dogs don't live that long.
I have a bull mastiff, but there are averages, but any dog u get there are no guarantee that the dog will live a long life.
