The floors in my house are very squeaky. Everytime u step they squeak. is there an easy/not so expensive way to reduce this? The house was built in the 70's. Can i do anything about this or do i just have to live w/ it.

over time screws and nails can back away from your wood and joists causing squeaks to form..........
the only way would be to take carpet and padding up and throw some nails into the plywood and joists and that would take care of it so I would either wait for your next floor covering change or you can hire a carpet guy to pull up the carpet at your squeaky spots and nail it down then restretch your carpet back in place.......shouldn't be to major a job.......get one to come check it out and give you a price............

It could be a loose nail rubbing against the joist or it could be something else. No way to tell without taking up carpet. Call a professional to save yourself time and agony.

Take Pure Talc Powder.. Unscented.... no additives in it.. and sprinkle it over the cracks or floorlines... then rub it into the cracks.... we used a sander without the sandpaper to compress it into the cracks...

Then sweep the floor off of the excess.. You wont see the talc... and it eases itself into the spaces and prevents creaking..
