She'll come to me for the petting and attention and then, while she's still purring and wanting to be petted in the same area, gives me a gentle bite for about 4 to 6 seconds and then lets me go... She still wants to be petted and wants the attention, I just can't think of any reason for the nibble...

Totally a love bite. She's taking you in her mouth, letting you know that she wants you around and loves you.

As long as it doesn't hurt a lot and you're not getting infections, it's sounds cute to me! Right on!

Ever heard the expression "love bite" thats the closest you'll get to the real thing i.e. coming from a cat. Mine does that too.

It's a love bite. Nothing to worry about. they do it some times but only with the people they are really close with.just look at it as her little way of saying I love you.

The bite that she gave you is called a love bite. Your cat isn't trying to hurt you, she bites you because she likes you.

It's how animals show affection. Their skin is tougher and not as sensitive and that's how they say "I love you" to another cat. Of course, it can really hurt.

I had a cute little black kitty that would purr loud and long as she rubbed my legs and then nip my knee if I didn't scratch her back or ears immediately. She died suddenly a few weeks ago and I really miss her little nibbles...
