Dogs and Fireworks: My dog LOVES fireworks but we don't want her to be out side because they are so loud.?

Question

She wants to go out and see them but i don't want her to since their so loud, what can i do or put on her ear so she can't hear them as good?

She does like them. the people at the end of our block do them every year. the fire works don't come by us, im not worried about her getting burned. im worried that their too loud.

I don't think they make doggy ear plugs if you're really conserd don let her out a long as she isn't getting close to the fireworks then she should be OK I would be more worried about her getting burned
if she is hurt by the nose she will let you know

Are you sure she's trying to go out to watch them or is she trying to get out to run away? Most dogs are afraid of fireworks. Are we talking the big booming professional ones, or the little ones you do yourself? If it's the ones you do yourself, I think you're doing the right thing by keeping her inside. Fireworks are very dangerous and she could easily be burnt if she tried to chase one or a stray rocket flew at her. Also, the burnt-out ones would smell very interesting and unusual to her, and she might be tempted to try to eat them, which could make her very sick.

Now if it's the big ones that professionals do and there's really no danger, I know they are loud, but are they really loud enough to damage hearing? Do they hurt YOUR ears too? If they really are that close and that loud, and you really want to have your dog outside with you, first make sure she's on a leash held by someone strong enough to control her if she gets frightened and bolts. You can use cotton balls in her ears to stifle the noise. It's quite safe as long as you don't push it in too far, and actually is recommended for dogs that get a lot of ear infections to keep water out of their ears when they go swimming or have a bath.

You have a very interesting doggie if she truly likes to watch fireworks!

I don't think you have anything to worry about.Unless they hurt your ears.Then I suggest you keep her inside.I see people bring their dogs to fireworks shows all the time.If you are really concerned though,ask your vet if it is a good thing to do or not.

The perfect solution is to use your fireworks indoors. The sound will be muffled by the carpet, upholstered furniture and any other soft, flamable object nearby. Your beloved pet won't have to venture outside and you can enjoy those lovely skyrockets together.
