Okay,
I've given up with targets - I just NEED to be thin by anytime. Sooner the better.

If I'm clinically underweight, what's the best way to lose weight?

I want to lose the most weight around my legs and my stomach and my arms. EVERYWHERE.

About 1 stone 6lb?
Roughly.
I'm willing to eat about 300 calories, but not exercise.
Would that work?

I'm 14 and female.
Suggestions?

Thanks.x

Hi,

If you are clinically underweight why do you want to lose more weight? you are obviously suffering from mild anorexia. You need to stop trying to lose weight immediately if you want to live to see your 15th birthday.

I know women are flooded with images of superthin models all day... but these images are not realistic and is the cause of putting impressionable girls like you in this situation.

Even though I do not know what you look I do know if you're clincally underweight and you lose another stone and six pounds you'll look and be hanging with the skeletons buried in the ground.

what you should focus on is losing bodyfat, because it sounds to me like you don't like to see fat on your body, so in that case start using weights to tone your legs, arms and stomach.

By reducing your calories to 300 a day will not accomplish this, your body will be thin but still have a soft look which will frustrate you even more. If you want to be toned and look slim eat 5-6 small meals a day this will help your body burn more fat.

Be honest with yourself if you are not happy , start visiting bookstores and have a look in the self-help section and see if you find anything that will make you feel like the real you again.

Trust me starving yourself to look like a skeleton is not a enjoyable life, life is for living girlfriend!

Right - Okay Im 14 - I used to be over weight a small bit but I lost 1 stone, but it did take time for me, and it can get stressfull

If you eat 300calories a day - Your going to physically and probs mentally hurt yourself.

If you want to loose the wait - Its about exercise and eating the right stuff - Not crisps, or chips ( even though they are tempting )

Exercise - Skipping, jogging to skl even, or cycling.

Food - The hardest part. Salads are really good, try it out, maybe a Ceasers salad I think crispy chicken with salad underneath. Cut down on crisps and fizzy drinks i.e cola.

If you have SKY - watch X-Weighted - Normally on everyday Lifestyle&Culture - Its abour people in your situation. Its good.

Well I wish you the best of luck.

why Freya do you want to lose weight, if you are already clinically underweight. Please dont try to be a size 0.
Have you spoken to your mum about this desire to lose weight. She will be worried sick if you start losing to much weight.
Many people who become anorexic die sweetheart. You really need to speak to someone before it gets out of hand & get professional help with it
I went through this about 5 years ago when my friends daughter became anorexic because of her desire to be thin. Even when the hospital told her she was killing herself & the stomach would start to rot away because of the acid building up & no food being digested to counteract it, she wouldn't stop dieting. she lived on a carton of orange juice , a quarter of a carrot & 1 lettuce leaf each day. Her mum was going out of her mind with worry. Yes her daughter lost weight but she lost her life in doing so. she was 16 years old when she died.My friend never got over her daughters death & to this day still blames herself for not doing enough...but there was nothing else she could have done.
So please Freya think very carefully

Hmmm...well the first thing is don't be MENTAL!!!!

yeah you're right, the 300 calories a day will make you lose weight alright....you know why..it'll kill you!!!!

plus it will bugger you up in the long run.
If you don't eat regularly your body stores fat as it thinks it won't be getting fed again for a while.

Just do 3 things.........drink 2 litres of water a day.........eat 5 portions of fruit and veg, plus dont eat junk food ....and thirdly, exercise for at leat 30 minutes 3 times a week. and you will be fine.

Done be daft,If you do it your way you will be thin, spotty, weak and white, that isnt attractive.
Plus you are only 14, you're still developing, if i were your parent i'd boot your @rse.
Good luck

ps. also, if you get anorexic, then you will go in to hospital, and if you dont die, they will make you eat loads after a while (till you feel sick) of horride hospital food and then you will end up heavier than you are now, which is stupid.
plus, you may loose ur boobs if you diet...
so dont!
trust me!
is a bad plan..

pps. greedy is good when your also greedy on nice tasting healthy stuff, like celory (i know, im a freak, but i love it!)

ppps.home made bananna split is really nice
1. peel bananna
2. add ice cream
3. eat

You are 14, so you will still be growing.
Teenagers do not need to go on diets, and most of the people i know have just gradually lost weight when they grew up.
If you are underweight, and trying to lose more weight, you will make yourself ill. Which could result in you being hospitalized and they will make you eat.

How many calories do teenagers need?

Young people need lots of energy and nutrients because they're still growing.

These are estimates of the average amount of energy young people of different ages need. Energy is measured in calories (kcal).

* Boys aged 11 to 14 need about 2,220 calories a day.
* Girls aged 11 to 14 need about 1,845 calories a day.
* Young men aged 15 to 18 need about 2,755 calories a day.
* Young women aged 15 to 18 need about 2,110 calories a day.

But remember these figures are only a guide, and young people might need more or less than these estimates, depending on a number of things, such as how physically active they are.

Young people often have big appetites, so it's important for them to have a healthy balanced diet, rather than filling up on sugary or fatty foods, such as crisps, sweets, cakes, biscuits, and fizzy drinks. These foods tend to be high in calories but contain few nutrients, and they can also reduce appetite for healthier foods.

A healthy balanced diet should include:

* plenty of fruit and vegetables – aim for at least five portions a day of a variety of different types
* meals based on starchy foods, such as bread, pasta, rice and potatoes (ideally brown, wholemeal or wholegrain varieties)
* moderate amounts of milk and dairy products – choose low-fat options where you can
* moderate amounts of foods that are good sources of protein, such as meat, fish, eggs, beans and lentils

300 calories is not enough, and it wont make you lose weight, it will just make you ill. To burn off calories, you need energy, which can be given when you eat.

If you are really worried about your weight then talk to your doctor. They will help you in anyway, and let you know about the calories you should be eating, but to be honest at your age, i wouldnt even be thinking about dieting!

firstly, i think that if you are clinically underweight, then you shouldent be thinking of AT ALL losing weight but infact thinking of ways to make yourself HEALTHIER.

and sweety limiting yourself to 300 calories isnt the best way.

what you should do is drink plenty of water, have lots of friuts and vegetable. these will give you energy and make you feel more better about yourself.

please take care of yourself.:)

At your age you can damage your body severely by crash dieting. I doubt you are fat just drink water and get exercise. Really, the damage is not worth it because it will age your skin and make you look far older than you are and when you get to 30 you will regret it.
