Did you perhaps eat or drink anything containing caffeine? This would both increase your heart rate and blood pressure.

Your pulse can change at any moment. You may not feel stressed out, but it could be something that you ate, too much salt or something hot and spicey. You may be nervous just because you are at the blood donation drive, did you smoke a cigarette or come in in a hurry? There are many factors that could have contributed to your increased pulse rate. You were probobly just over the mark for blood donation, they probobly cut off at a pulse of 100 bpm's. Your blood could come out too quickly if your pulse is up, and if your blood comes out quickly, you are likely to faint, or feel dizzy or sick. They are just protecting you. Dont worry about it and try again next time. I commend you for donating blood, it is a great thing to do to help others!

Many things can start your pulse racing or your blood pressure to rise. Food is one of the biggest culprits. Salt can raise your blood pressure. I agree with one of the posts, you could have been anxious about the procedure, without really knowing. I was a regular donor, up until 3 months ago. A breast cancer diagnosis and surgery, put a halt to my being a donor. I'm glad you are willing to try. I was actually refused once, because their scales said I weighed 109. I've not weighted that since I was a pre-teen. I couldn't convince them, I was 116. They used a bathroom scales and put it on a carpet! I reported this to the proper person, and the policy of how they take a person's weight has changed.

Well I don't like doctors or needles so my pulse always goes up when I'm there! Maybe you had too much caffeine or didn't like the nurse or situation that one time. Try again, and take your doctor's note that your pulse was okay at your physical. And its great that you donate blood!

You should get a Doctors opinion, also don' drink coffee, caffiene, don't smoke at least 1/2 hour before donating. And also you can wear your ipod w/ calming music and drink cammomille tea, also don't chew gum, good luck it is probably nothing serious, but please check w/ your doctor too. Good Luck.
