I saw an ad for one for sale. He's asking $1,800. I think that might be a little high for the condition of the vehicle, although he said he has replaced some things on it, and it's very reliable. But he says he's driven it coast to coast, so I'm guessing it has a lot of miles, and it does have some rust. I can't find a quote on kelly blue book, because they years don't go back that far.
Is this a reasonable price? I really would like the vehicle. I'm VERY into the "hippie mobiles"..and this one even has tie dyed curtains!!

Older VW Micro-buses are rapidly becoming collectors items... Especially if they still have the original camper conversion installed. $1800 isn't a bad price for one in good running condition, but make sure you do a thorough inspection of the van for rust and damage.

It depends on how much rust it has. If the body is really wrecked and not in good condition..id say 900.00 would be fair. This is a good deal other wise. VW's are excellent vehicles. THey are very dependable no matter how old. I have a neighbor who has an old rabbit..i mean an OLD one..lol..that thing still runs like new..hes only had to replace a few minor things..i could only imagine how many miles that thing has!!! You might be able to weasle him down to 1500.00...good luck

As someone else pointed out, they're a collector item so $1800 doesn't sound that bad to me. I agree with giving it a really good inspection first. Tie dyed curtains are nice, but are they to distract you from the fact that the rotors are bad on three of the wheels? It's nice if you want it and have the cash, but get ready to shell out a lot for many of the parts if something does break.

500, and you are losing money.

By the way, these things are really dangerous to drive in case of accident.

They are Ok as a collector thing but not for an everyday car.
