Square feet (surface area) is a two-dimensional unit. Gallons (volume) is a three-dimensional unit. They are completely different, and there is no way to convert between them.

However, if you meant cubic feet (volume), then the following conversions are true:

1 cubic foot = 7.48051945 US gallons
1 US gallon = 0.133680556 cubic feet

A gallon of paint is estimated to cover 400 square feet of wall, but there is no conversion factor between square feet and gallons, because the first is an area, or x^2, while the gallon is a volume, or x^3, dimensionally speaking. There's roughly 7.481 gallons per CUBIC foot, however.

You cannot convert Square feet into Gallons beacause gallons is a measure of a liquid that takes up a volume. You can convert volume to gallons. Now all you have to do is figure out your third dimension of your object that you say is square feet and find its cubic feet.

Back in the moonshine country they used to talk about "gallons per acre."

But in reality, square feet and gallons are measures of two completely different kinds of quantities, and you cannot convert from one to the other.

Square feet is a measure of surface area.
Gallons is a measure of quantity of liquids

A gallon is volume and sq. ft. has to do with area. They are two different terms. Are you missing a part of the equation, like the height at a certain amount of square feet?

As several others have said, sq. ft. and gallons are two totally different measurements. However, given that 1 cubic foot contains 7.48 gallons of water, you could then determine the thickness of the liquid on the surface. For example, if you spread it to a thickness of .1 inches, you could cover 120 times the area of the cubic measurement, or 120 sq. ft.
