i want to get two on the front of each shoulder kinda under my collarbone and just above my chest. i think they look pretty cool but its not a gay or female thing is it? i dont want to send the wrong message for the rest of my life lol. do colors mean anything? i want to get like charcoal grey and black.

I've actually scene that star tattoo on a lot of guys, way more on guys than girls. The coors are good, grey and black, black and blue is also good, definitely male.
Any tattoo artist can design good skull tattoos easily for you, maybe even something unique to you, just talk to them, that's what they are there for :)

Tattoos are hot in general, However Nautical stars are becoming a bit overplayed, My boyfriend is a tattoo artist and He does at least 4 a week, Why not get a guitar tattoo? Just an idea, You can do what you want but if you're going for original a Nautical star is too popular,

you shouldn't be getting or not getting any tattoos based on what is cool or perceived notions about them. despite what SO many people think there are no special, secret or hidden meanings to the placement of tattoos on the body. if i have a sparrow on my left shoulder it doesn't mean that i belong to some secret society and if i have a shark on my thigh it doesn't mean that i am in the mafia. people put tattoos on their bodies based on so many factors and you should do what feels right to you.
also, don't just get a tattoo and add things here and there just because you think it may need something. especially a tattoo on the chest should be carefully considered and done with extreme care.

I suggest having a friend stencil it on with a permanent market where you would like it, then going to the beach, or working out and see people's reactions to it! :) I do think they are more of a feminine thing... Also, they are called Ali stars, not nautical stars...
