Because we live in a sad world, where everyone wants money. If we continue like this, people like doctors and dentists will be to scared to take up the job as they could be sued for doing something wrong. Then people will think if it was worth it.

Well the UK has followed the Americans on this one, suing people when you trip over a leaf, that sort of thing. The only time it's useful is things like household insurance, if your place gets burgled and you have no insurance then you are stuffed. If you look around you can get some decent deals just don't go with those twats on the TV 'Injury lawyers for you', i would take that sort of stuff of the air, besides the woman in it scares the bejesus out of me.

We are not obsessed but insurance is a good protection when things go wrong. You have to insure your car. You may have to insure your house as a condition of a mortgage.
You will insure your life against the inevitable happening earlier than ,might be expected. You insure against illness when abroad. This is not obsession it's using a bit of nouse

I hate to tell those people, but "insurance" quite often isn't. Gov't flood insurance only gives you a right to sue when they deny your claim ("regular" flood ins. gives you no rights, at all.) Here in New Orleans, the courts recently sided w/the insurance companies. Although people may have had insurance, the companies do NOT have to pay the claims. This includes major businesses in the area, like Xavier University (say hello to my little tuition hikes.)

First you bamboozle people into beliving that being secure is an option in life. Then you tell them that said security is only possible if they lay out big bucks to hedge against bad things turning their secure lives upside down.
VOILA! Insurance.
It's called "GREED", dear. Tell 'em a lie, then lift their purses with another lie once they're good and secure in the belief of the first lie.
Great capitalistic tactic. Lousy civilized behavior.

Well is the society we live in nowadays, we live in a society of materialists and we are always out for what we can get.
I wonder what happened to putting things down to just being a plain accident.
