Five glasses of milk is a lot of calories and fat especially if it is full cream. It also has a high solute load and you would actually need to drink more water to compensate for this! A pint or so of skimmed or semi skimmed milk will give you your RDA of calcium and vitamin D, better to use water after that.

They are both good, just have different functions.
With milk, it depends on how old you are. If you're under 25 milk is a must, as it gives you calcium. I think I drank it until I was 30 something! We are reading reported studies now in the fitness business with kids that will have bone problems later on because they think milk is too fattening and aren't drinking it. Bad idea!
Water is a must too. When you hear or read about drinking all this water, remember that it only means to drink it all day. Get in the habit of carrying it around with you. When you're thirsty, it's too late, you're already dehydrated. This is your body's way of saying hydrate me now! Like a engine slowly running out of gas! Both are good, and both are needed.

Drinking 5 glasses of milk a day would give you too much fat.
Overall, milk is somewhat better than water in the sense that milk contains water and also has nutrients and vitamins that you need.

stop drinking milk and you will still live
stop drinking water and you would soon die
so in that sence water is better for you, however do drink milk not 5 just one glass will do, calcium is good for your bones and your body does need fat as well

5 glasses of fluid. And it's 8 glasses not 5. approx 2 litres, more if you are excercising.
All fluids are included in this, not just water, and it also includes fluid content of food.
Milk is fluid but is also food. Milk contains proteins carbohydrates and fat. also vitamins ADE&K.
It provides the mineral calium too. However, too much milk is bad for you. Not only because it provides too many calories, too much calcium can lead to kidney stones.

Stick with the water. As Spot above says it's the cleansing of the body that makes water so much better and effective in keeping you hydrated and healthy.
