Dear Christians, do you think that if you had been born an Iranian, into a Muslim family, that would you believe that
Mohamed was the one true messenger of God, and Jesus was a great prophet, but only human.
Or do you think you would convert to Christianity?

Thanks everyone, I've got some answers this time.
I don't think there is a "correct" answer, as many as people.
I personally wonder if I would be brave enough to express doubt, in some muslim countries, as I can about Christianity here.

Hard to tell. It would depend on my general upbringing. I don't assume anything.

That's a good question....

Basically, you're asking if we're Christian simply because that's how we were raised, or if our beliefs have been a conscious decision....

Part of the challenge in answering this question is that in Islam, learning about other religions is STRONGLY discouraged and those who convert from that religion are considered dead... and are often (at least in other countries- US doesn't really approve of this) hunted down and killed by family members.

So-
If I'd been born Muslim, would I stay Muslim?

If I'd been born Muslim, and had been given the opportunity to learn about Christianity, would I take it?

If I'd been born Muslim, taken advantage of the opportunity to learn about Christianity (and risk seious repercussions), would I then risk my life and become a Christian?

Maybe I'm a pansy, maybe I just have a strong self-preservation instinct, but I think I may have stayed Muslim.

I have no idea whether or not I would believe the teachings of Islam since I was an agnostic for most of my life. What I do know for sure is that if God called me to Him out of a Muslim family then I would become a Christian just like when He called me out of my agnosticism.

I beleive I would beleive what I was raised around until I reached an age that I would start to question everything and then seek my own answers not the ones told to me.
We all are on differnt planes and we all have to find our own ways to God, each path different, some paths are here for others and some are here for only themselves.
I truly believe I would reconize Christianity no matter where I was born. It is soul deep with me.

God is the only one that can draw us near to him and I'm not sure that he would turn his face toward us if we were serving other God's. I mean you can read stories in the bible of when people turn to other gods and idols and how God moved from them. One thing for sure that if he calls you will have to make a choice, I can see where that would be very difficult to do if you lived in a complete Muslim nation.

Well until someone comes up with a what if machine it is hard to say. Some people who grow up around a religious family and group of people usually ends up being like that and sometimes not. Just according to what kind of person they are and if they want to do it or not.

Since I was born to agnostic/atheists and researched "everything" before I converted to Christianity I believe I would convert to Christianity.

But you are welcome to believe that religion is of people and that God has nothing to do with leading people to righteousness if you choose.

I understand that a lot of Muslims believe that and I believe that God gave you the right to choose what you will believe.

Little HOG,
It is possible that the TRUTH would have been hidden from me. I am not sure. I am glad that I live in a free society that allows us the ability to choose what to believe without "major" persecution from the government or our neighbors. Have a wonderful day.
Thank you,
Eds

PS... This is the first time that I have seen this question. Thank you for asking it on here!

I think we would believe what we were brought up to believe, but that if God meant for us to be Christian that we would become Christian. Just like you are not a Muslim until you take your shahidah, than you are not a Christian until you have accepted Christ as your savior and been baptized. There are certainly Christians in Iran and Iraq, who were born Christian. Just like there are people in America who were born Muslim.

Christianity has been in the Muslim world for 1000 years and they are not impressed with the theology.

However, many Muslims are impressed with the material things Christian posses.

Islam has only recently been able to make its presence known theologically in Europe and America and many are accepting Islam for its spiritual and theological benefits.......... not its material benefits.

I have no doubt that no matter where I was born, once I was told about the True God and the Lord Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit would have convicted me that it was true.

I am sure Jesus would be my Lord today, or I would be at peace in death for converting to Christianity and Jesus would still be my Lord and Savior.
