Hi Torres, do you have the manual or an installation disk?
The installation disk (the CD that came with the scanner) is important, it contains the drivers to run your scanner. If you don't have one then type in the make and model of your scanner plus the word "drivers" and that should give you a link to the manufacturer's website to download the drivers.
Scanning is very simple, if you have ever used a photocopier then you can certainly use a scanner. Put the picture or photo in the scanner face down (make sure it's in the correct corner)
and then press the "scan" button on the scanner or use the software for the scanner (there is usually an icon in the taskbar - bottom right).

Make sure your computer recognizes your scanner DRIVER INSTALLED.
Most scanners come with scanning software that you can install and follow easy steps.
Inside the scanner software, select the type of document that you are going to scan, picture, illustration, etc.
Select the resolution for scanning, which is the quality. Depending on the usage that you will give to the picture, select 72 dpi for web, 150 to 300 for print. If you are going to size up the image you should scan around 600 or more.
Make sure you select the place where you are going to save your picture.
Jpeg is a good format for saving pictures, but you can use tiff or bmp, the difference is the size of the saved document, which is bigger on the last two.

It varies with each scanner. Your scanner came with a booklet and/or a CD. Try reading the manual.
If you got your scanner without the CD or book, go to the manufacturer's web site and download the manual.
