I think you need to calm down. You're going to be gone a whole 3 days--that's not huge. I used to go on 1-2-week long vacations before school started, sometimes missing the first day of school, all the time as a kid. It wasn't that big of a deal.

What do you need to prepare for? If it's just the sleep, keep working on it up until your vacation and try to stick to it during your vacation. If worse comes to worst, you make sure you go to bed at a decent hour during your first few school days AND on the weekend, and get up at the same time each day--even on the weekend. If 2 nights away is going to mess up your sleeping schedule that badly, then 2 nights on the weekend should be fine for getting it back.

ADDED: I'm confused--are you coming back the day before school starts or not? If you're missing the first day of school, so be it. You think in 20 years it's going to matter? Or even in a year from now?

RELAX. Seriously. I missed the first day of school probably about 4 times during grades 1-8 and missed the last day or two of school before Christmas holidays probably the same. It's just not that big of a deal, really. You sound like you are on the verge of a panic attack; are you prone to being highly stressed?

It may not be the best time, but you are getting yourself way to worked up. It isn't worth it. So, your parents write a note to say vacation went a day too late. Even if people get upset, you have no control over this. Don't take it on. Try to enjoy yourself. You probably will be tired, but you will recover. Your anxiety could make you feel a lot worse than you have to.

whoa first, calm down. i grew up going on vacay right before school started and its not the end of the world. do your school shopping either before you go or while your out of town. that was the best for me growing up. i would go shopping in all these different cities and places and would come back wearing hot fashions that no one in my school had. right now i think you need to find the positive in this all. and its not like youre going to be gone for like a week or two like we used to. you'll be gone for like a weekend. you dont have to adjust your sleeping. you can still go to bed early while youre gone for those three days. i mean what all do have to do that cant be done before you leave? or theres always the option of you not going? i mean really, relax
