Get him one of these tackle boxes, or one like it. I got one very similar to it at walmart, and now it's my favorite. It has 8 plastic boxes in it, that you can put lures in. I have crankbaits in one, spinners in another, plastics in several, it helps to be organized and keep everthing from getting all messed up.
Lot's of pockets, and is easily handled.
Of coures he will need to probably buy more lures to fill it up, so since it's only $49.00 throw a fifty in one of the boxes, and let him pick out the lures.
He Will Love It!!!

If you could give a little more information as to where in the world you are, people could give you some more specific ideas. As an avid fisherman, it's tough to give advice without knowing if he's fishing mountain streams for trout, big lakes for bass, or casting plugs into the ocean.

Not puttin' the word out on Gander Mountain, but as I recall their price range is pretty $$? Been awhile since I dealt with them ,so I could be wrong? Gift certificate is a good way ta go, say maybe Bass Pro, Cabela's, the Bass store right down the street or last but not least Gander Mtn.? Below are the links for their main fishin' and certificate pages (Bass Pro & Cabela's). A gift certificate gets ya' in the green two ways, "The thought" and thennn lettin' him choose his own goodies ;)... Hope this helps somewhat.

well many more lures would be good for a present, but if you don't know what to get him a gift card to Gander mountain or the bass store will work , let him pick out his own bait.. which is a big hit for my wife to get myself

Does he have hobbies(like hunting, fishing, ect.)? If so it might narrow it down a bit. My husband loves older model cars, so I've started him a collection of die cast cars. One year I had a surf fishing rod made for him. Maybe take him somewhere where the 2 of you can have time alone in a different atmosphere,a special place he will enjoy.

Buy him a Bass Pro gift card,He can then pick out anything he could possibly want.Better to do that than to get him something he may not want or need.(My wife only buys me gift cards,I have been fishing all my life and she has no idea what I would want)

Why don't you give him a gift certificate to Bass Pro Shops or the other store you mentioned. It is very hard to buy for a sportsman, because he/she will have specific things that they like. I realize that a gift certicate is a little impersonal, but it's not much fun to get something you don't like and pretend that you like it either.

If he already has the gear to fish, I would start with the accessories. Buy him a comfy chair, a cooler, the clothing and maybe even more lures, hooks, weights, and bait. You can never have enough of those.

No man can resist a new bait cast combo or flipin stick combo .I sud jest either a medium action bait cast with rod , or an "Ultra light " combo . You will need to go fishing with him or he will be out at all hour day @ night fishing .Keep the frying pan warm .
