I recently got a new cat after my old cat died of feline leukemia. Will my new cat get it from being in the house where the old cat was?

He's already gotten his shots and was tested for feline leukemia by his old owners. I just want to make sure he won't be able to get it.

The virus does not live very long outside the body. All bowls, litterboxes, and toys should be cleaned well before using again though. Otherwise things should be fine.

We did no longer provide something that our cats used away. I threw all of it out with the aid of fact i grow to be afraid it may desire to unfold the ailment. it particularly is beneficial to attend a sprint longer in the previous getting yet another one. i don't understand if i could have extra cats. those I had have been the final, and cats are so sturdy at hiding being ill. i understand my answer won't have helped plenty, yet you're no longer the only one that those days lost your particularly secure, enjoyed indoor to a minimum of a few thing and don't understand how that occurred. i wish which you're feeling extra advantageous.

yes, if it has been exposed to other cats that have the disease......depends how long the old cat has been away and that you have cleaned everything properly and gotten rid of all the other cat's toys, food bowls, litter box, etc. then the new cat should be fine

Everything will probably be okay but your new kitty will need shots anyway, so ask at the clinic. You can call animal rescue groups as well, they are very knowledgeable and have seen all kinds of things.
