Yeah...we have stare downs almost every day.
When she wants to get into something she's not supposed to, I can read it on her face. When she attempts to do that special something, I say, "No" sternly and she just stares at me. I stare right back until she gets the hint that I"m not backing down. Then we cuddle!

Yes! I have. My Gypsy head butts me every morning waking me up. Some times I play the staring game with her. I just stare her directly in the eye and stares back at me. Then she'll meow and I meow in return. This will go on for 2 or 3 minutes. Then she'll stick her fuzzy tail in the air and stalk off in a huff. I laugh and get up and go put fresh food and water down for her. I love her dearly. She's 14 years old.

I have had numerous stare downs with my 14 year old over the years, sometimes she won, sometimes I won. Try blinking your eyes very slowly at your cat and see if he blinks back, these are eye kisses, the equivalent of a kiss from a cat.

Yea I've had stare downs with my cats. I've won with two of them, but the other one has eye issues so I never win. I also have stare contests with my dog, now I always beat him lol ^_^ I think it is fun and none of them really feel freaked out. Well except the dog really.

I used to try to out-stare my cat all the time, even though it's very rude to stare at a cat.
When she looked away, I didn't however conclude I had won - she used to almost roll her eyes as she looked away, as if I was just too painful to look at any longer.

No. Every time I've tried to stare back at one of my cats, I've been subjected to the infamous cat "nose rub." You know, that's where they touch noses with you, and if you don't move away the cat rubs its cheek, body, and tail into your nostrils. Sigh.
I miss my cats. Can't have them anymore since I became allergic.

I do it sometimes. One time i was in my kitchen cooking and he jumped on the counter next to me, he likes to keep my company when I am cooking. SO i bent down on the counter and just starred at him, it must have been like five minuets, he would not give! Then he got this mean face like " IF you keep starring at me, I am going to eat your Soul." SO i looked away. I want to keep my soul you know. But I could have won if i wanted to....
