According to Moslems the word of Allah has been sent all over the world.
The daily fasting period in Ramadan is from sunrise to sunset. Ramadan shifts about 11 days a year according to the Gregorian (solar) calendar.
Above the Artic circle, in summer the sun does not set for 6/8 weeks.

How could a Muslim living above the Artic observe the fast if Ramadan fell in a Northern summer. Starve or thirst to death?

Conversly if it fell in winter, no sun 6/8? weeks, could one ignore the fast entirely.

As the Muslim calendar is lunar and not solar this must occour maybe12 times every century. (There's another question, how many times would it happen?)

Serious answers please, I don't want answers like 90% of those I got for "Mohammed's ascension to heaven" question earlier today.
If you just want to slag off Islam or convert me to Islam you're wasting my time, I'm an athiest anyway and I'll report you for abuse.
Note well all you bible bashers out there!

Well that is something i have never even thought about (lets say i am glad i don't leave there)

Allah makes things easy for us and doesn't cause a burden for us if one is unable to fast then ythey are to give charity or feed a poor person. i don not know what ruling this would come under but that i what i think may happen

are there any muslims out there you are concerned about? i think not. if there are they can ask scholars. i believe most of us here are not scholars who are experts in this matter. i strongly suggest you ask one if you are serious, and no starving to death is not allowed in islam nor is fasting more important than the health of the human being.
if you want serious answers then ask realistic questions, i did my best, the rest if you want a sure answer is found if you go to a scholar's site and post the question for answering.

One of the early scholars said that has it happen? no well ask me when it does!

They're nobody living there so why does it matter? At a guess they would use the last day as a reference and do it according to that.

One of my employers is from Alaska. He said it isn't like 6-8 weeks of full daylight, but that "night" never gets past twilight. Twilight may be construed as sunset. Either that, or with modern technology, they could follow the scientific times for sunrise and sunset, and therefore please their faith while not starving themselves to death because they live above the Arctic Circle.
