because, with the over 40 contributors, and the time line of writing over 1600 years, the Bible's message is consistent.
Try to get 2 people to agree on anything today, and you will see that to have forty people most of whom had never met, agree totally is nothing short of astonishing.

The teachings of the bible lay groundwork for a society where people get along and don't rob, steal, sleep with each others wives, kill each other, etc..
It was written by men cause the stories are intended to show people how the men who wrote it wanted their society to behave. The bible is very similar to Egypt's Book Of The Dead which was written thousands of years before. People have only believed that the bible was the word of god for 2007 years, before that it was a differint religious scripture. After this age there will probably be something similar to the Bible that serves the same purpose.

Besides the internal claims that the Bible was written by men who were carried along by the Holy Spirit and that all Scripture was breathed out by God, there are compelling arguments for the divine nature of the Scriptures. Here's a link if you really want to investigate the proofs offered for this idea.

I'm a secretary. At board meetings I record what other people say, or take dictation from my boss. So God (the CEO) used men to record what he inspired them to write.
In order to validate that what they wrote was actually divinely inspired (and not just made up), you would need to thoroughly examine all 66 books to satisfy yourself that they agree, that there is consistency and accuracy. You would be looking for a common thread, a theme, a beginning a middle and an end that linked them all together. You would expect to get a pretty powerful message. And that's exactly what you find when you read the Bible.
More importantly, the word of God is powerful, it is alive - it changes lives, for the good. It is as meaningful today as it was all those thousands of years ago when it first started to be recorded. It has withstood the test of time. God speaks to us through his written word, and through it we come to know him. You familiar with that expression, "The pen is mightier than the sword"? No other book has had such a profound effect on so many people over such a prolonged period of time.
Oh, and "some people" turns out to be millions of people - it's the best-seller of all time!

It is written by men through the Holy Spirit. Men wrote to what God wanted them to write. All of God's words not men.
Only its fair to say now that since men translated the Bible one too many times it really did get mixed in different interpretations of certain scriptures. That is dangerous because it can mislead a person to believe something that is definitely not so.
Example: Moses wrote the Ten Commandments from and through God Almighty. Same as the Holy Bible.
I hope I made sense.

Because these people believe that these men who wrote the Bible were "inspired by God".
When a person becomes a Christian, they receive the "Holy Spirit"...which indwells them. They are not possessed, mind you, but there is an inner power within them - and this power is the Holy Spirit...which IS God.
This, of course, does NOT make them God, but does influence their life.
And when the original writers of the Bible, such as Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, Peter, Titus, and Jude wrote those words, they were "led" by the "Holy Spirit" within them to write exactly what they wrote...
So, in a sense, the Bible WAS written by God...even though it was written by men.
This is why some people (like myself) believe that the Bible is the very Word of God.

People are taking it on faith that God has inspired and guided those who have taken the time to record and translate scriptures. Much has been passed down by word of mouth and many of the works were not even written by the person that said them. Without these documents that were compiled into a book, we would have nothing but words from one person to another. You know how things get changed even more that way. We can only have faith that those words that have been passed down over the ages are divinely given by recognition that they have survived. Take from the words those that serve your goodness.

We believe that the men who recorded the things we find in the Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit. In short they wrote down the message that God told them to write so that we will have His direction... Jim

It was a gradual shift that occured in certain Protestant denominations over the last two centuries. The Bible does not claim to be the word of God, and traditional Christian Churches do not regard it as such. The concept of "inspiration" is realted to the community's use and acceptance of specific books, and not to divine authorship.

I can only answer your question in this way.Let's assume that the world {has we know it}is here 2000 or more years from now. The only way that people in future days can possibly know quotes made by John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King{for an example} and believe that they're fact is to believe that "we" heard them say it and wrote it down.God Bless!*Faith, that's what I'm holding on too*
