2. Visiting a nursing home.

4. Visiting shut-ins (elderly).
5. Tutoring or mentoring at your schools or library.
6. Helping to organize a game night at your local McDonald's, Hardee's, or some other restaurant. Get the manager or owner's permission, put a notice in the papers and bulletin boards.
7. Volunteering with a faith-based charity.
8. Volunteering for literacy, that is teaching ESL or GED or other continuing education through your local college or high school.

Hello,
In such a small community, check to see if there are any schools, food pantries, nursing/assisted living home or pet shelter in the area that needs help. These are the main venues that sometimes desperately need volunteers to run operations. As a student, I have done volunteer work at church food pantries, soup kitchens and nursing homes. I can honestly say that without volunteers, the church food pantries and soup kitchens will not exist and really does improve the community as a whole.
Best of luck!

I am providing a link for you to Volunteermatch.org. It is a great site for searching for volunteer opportunities in your local area. Plus you can search by the type of organizations you are most interested in helping.
I think it is great that you want to help give back in some way!! It is very rewarding to be a volunteer. I hope this helps you in finding something that suits you.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Looking to the future can be an investment worth it's weight in gold if you focus on teaching young minds how to work towards a better tomorrow. Give them the positive reinforcement they need to achieve. Show them what good and positive character looks like.
That's my suggestion....

Domestically, check with Americore. For a more mind blowing international experience which requires a two year commitment with a stipend being paid: Peace Corps.

Make daily and/or weekily checks on the house bound citizens in your small community to see if they need your assistance in heating or air conditioning or simply check on their well-being by offering to transport to doctor's visit, see if items are needed from the grocery or pharmacy, etc. See if transportation is needed to their place of worship.

Teachers can always use help in the "over-crowded" schools.
I enjoy tutoring with the Literacy program at the local library. Hospitals always need extra help. Especially in the nursery rocking the newborns. Nursing homes always welcome extra help because there are many patients who have no family (and therefore no visitors).
Good Luck!

hmmm nicely, for starters, in case you have a close-by park, you will get human beings to freshen up the park, fix the seats, consistent with danger make animal properties. flowers extra trees, repotting dying/ broken trees, changing undesirable or contaminated soil with sparkling stuff and including fertilizer to the soil are some stable concepts too.
