To tell you honestly in my line of work I deal with them all of the time. I am registered nurse. But most of the doctors that I deal with are quite nice and pleasant. And I am sorry to hear that you have had some experience with bad doctors.
No disrespect meant but sometimes the patient are the ones that pushes the MD's to their limit. For instance they will see a specialist for a particular complain but when they are in the examination room they will try to get the doctors to diagnosed them in an unrelated symptom... I could go on an on with other instances though.
BUt what works if you do not like the attitude of the doctor just tell them that you do not appreciate their attitude towards you.

Some of them where just born that way, I think. I work in a medical library at a college for med students. Most are nice people, but some of them only consider themselves & don't seem to care about the nursing & psychology students who also use the library. I'd never want some of these jacka$$es as my doctor.

I've been fortunate. When I was able to work (I can't now for medical reasons), most were polite and friendly. It's SOME of the ones that I've been to that fall into the category you describe.
