is there anything i can do to get it back? i thought i lost it at first but when i called my number, someone picked up twice. i was thinking of telling the police but my brother told me that the police will completely block my phone and when you do get it back, it's useless.i called the network operator who blocked the sim and phone.would telling the police be useful if the person who took it was thinking of returning it?

First of all you need to decide if it was lost or stolen.
Someone may have found it and has every intention of handing it in to the police...so therefore you could register your phone as lost and if it is handed in, you will get it back.
If your phone was stolen you need to inform the police and then you can get a crime number to give to your insurer, that way you can replace it.
If you put your phone down and someone picked it up and is using it...report it lost!

Report it as stolen...... If the phone has a value of over $400 it's a felony. The police doesn't have the phone turned off. The crime is investigated and depending on the circumstances, investigated. Call your local police/sheriff's office & report it. Just remember!! If you haven't turned it off yet or reported it stolen to your phone company, you'll be responsible financially for the costs of any phone calls they made.. Good Luck

if they were thinking of giving it back 1st off they wouldnt have taken it and 2nd they wouldve talked to u when u called. my phone got stolen last year. called police and all was nothing they could do. network operator blocked it tho. prob best to get new 1 but if u call your network operator they can stop the sim in your old phone and send a new one with same number as you had before

The Police CAN'T block the phone. They could only request the network operator block it. You said you already did that. In either case, they can UNBLOCK it.

It's unlikely you'll get it back if you don't report it. You may not get it back if you do report it but the Police will never have an opportunity to look for your phone if you don't report it as stolen.
How exactly do you think you are going to get it back if you don't report it?

hope you have it insured you will need a letter
off the police as proof you reported it stolen

if someone nicks your phone there is no way your gonna get it back, just get another one
