Either relax and ignore the cat-is it doing something wrong? You should be flattered, cats just dont pick anywhere to hang out.
and dont take it to the shelter, unless its skinny or sick,it has an owner- just 1 in 5 adult cats get adopted at the shelter.
The only thing I have found that works to keep cats out of an area permanently and consistently is a motion detector sprinkler- cats hate getting wet.
And if that cat does not run from getting wet, its injured or sick-get it some help, or take it to the shelter, as we have a responsibility to all of gods creatures, whether we like them or not.

Cats tend to come and go as they please. You may have some nice trees in your yard that would give them shade and a place to play. Just leave them alone and they will eventually go away.
If you really want to do something check to see if the cat has any tags. If there are tags, call the owner and see if they will keep the cat inside. If there are no tags, trap the cat and take it to the local humane society or to a vet's office that does adoptions.

First, check about the animal control laws in your area. In many places, cat are not allowed to roam free. If that's the case, contact Animal Control and request their assistance.
Otherwise, you might procure a live trap and catch the cat, notify the community, and demand that the owner pick it up in person. Everytime. However, be cautious, in some areas, cats are allowed to roam free. Check with the local law enforcement/animal control first.

orange or banana peels deter cats, you can also ask your barber if you can have a trash bag of hair that he has cut, spread that on your yard, human hair repels them as well...
